Speaker: Alex Diaz, PhD Candidate, University of Wyoming
Abstract: Bone has been used as a medium for crafting both tools and decorative items since our earliest ancestors. This analysis focuses on the bone pin assemblage (n=169) from a special event midden, Kinzey's Knoll, at the Mill Cove Complex, a Mississippian-period mound center located in Jacksonville, Florida.
Bio: Alex Diaz is a second-year PhD student at the University of Wyoming and a North American archaeologist. His broad interests include pre-contact American archaeology, hunter-gatherer societies, and the relationships between past humans and their environments, particularly the interactions between humans and animals.
