We are proud to present Dr. Holly Norton, Colorado State Archaeologist and Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer as our guest speaker for the January 12, 2026 General Meeting.  Dr. Norton will speak on what happened in archaeology during 2025 and what the plans are for 2026.

 

Dr. Norton received her BA in anthropology from the University of South Carolina, and a MA and PhD from Syracuse University in Anthropology with her dissertation, Estate by Estate: The Landscape of the 1733 St. Jan Slave Rebellion.  She has worked as an archaeologist conducting both prehistoric and historical archaeological investigations, as well as historical architectural surveys, for a variety of state and federal agencies and private environmental firms, including the South Carolina Department of Transportation and the National Park Service.

 

Meeting Location: The month’s meeting will be held at History Colorado Center, 1200 N. Broadway, Denver 80203. Please enter and exit History Colorado Center through the Security/Staff Entrance on the east side of the building on Lincoln St.,  a 1/2 block north of 12th Ave.  Ring the intercom for security to buzz you in.

 

We’ll also meet for Happy Hour at 5 at Stoney’s Bar and Grill at 1111 Lincoln St, located one block south of History Colorado Center on the west side of the street.  

 

Parking: Metered street parking is available on Lincoln St and is free starting at 6 pm.  Paid garage parking is available on the west side of Colorado Center in the Cultural Center Complex Garage at 65 W. 12th Avenue, 80204.  Garage Parking is also available on the east side of Colorado History Center in the Art Garage Parking, 1200 Lincoln St. across from History Colorado Center.  A map showing the location of History Colorado Center and available garage parking can be found here.
